Hyun Bin’s First Time in Manila: 9 Fun Facts to Obsess Over

Hallyu superstar Hyun Bin — yes, Captain Ri himself from the hit K-drama Crash Landing on You — finally set foot in the Philippines for the very first time! The A-list actor kicked off his Manila debut with a press conference, followed by an exclusive fan meet at Solaire Resort Entertainment City.

Lucky raffle winners got to meet him up close, and honestly… we’re still trying to recover from the collective kilig.

If you couldn’t be there, don’t worry — we’ve rounded up 9 fun facts from his first visit that will make you feel like you were part of the action.

1. He tried adobo… and loved it.

Hyun Bin revealed that he was recommended to try adobo, and it was an instant hit. “It was delicious,” he said with a smile that probably made every adobo-loving Filipino melt.

2. The Philippines was always on his travel list.

He shared that the country has long been on his must-visit list. “The way they have welcomed me is really heartwarming and more amazing than I’ve expected,” he said. Same, Hyun Bin. Same.

3. He was touched by the warm hospitality of Pinoy fans.

From the moment he arrived, Hyun Bin felt the love. “I have fans here who have been loving me so much and supported me so much… now that I’m here, I feel like we’re closer,” he said. We’re not crying, you are.

4. He’d swap lives with a character he once played.

If given the chance, Hyun Bin would trade places — just for a day — with his Secret Garden character, Kim Joo-Won. Why? “He has a spectacular life, and I want to try living that life too,” he confessed.

5. His advice to his younger self? Live in the moment.

Hyun Bin admitted that he used to focus so much on work that he rarely stopped to appreciate the journey. “I’d tell myself to enjoy the moment, enjoy the surroundings, not just go straight towards your goal.” Wise words from Captain Ri.

6. He never travels without his supplements.

Between shoots and fan events, he makes sure to stay healthy. “Whenever I have a hectic schedule, I work out before going to work. And yes, I brought supplements with me this time,” he shared — complete with a cheeky smile.

7. If he became a director, expect a big plot twist.

Hyun Bin doesn’t see himself producing films just yet, but if he ever directs, it’ll be something “unexpected” with a jaw-dropping twist. Sounds like a future K-drama hit to us.

8. His Manila fashion essentials are simple but stylish.

For this trip, Hyun Bin kept it cool with three must-haves: sunglasses, a cap, and a watch. Minimalist, but make it leading-man chic.

9. He promised to return our love with more projects.

“The unchanging love I’ve received from my Filipino fans is something I’m grateful for,” he said. “I want to return it by creating more projects and becoming a better actor.” BRB, adding this to our list of reasons why we adore him.

Whether you met him in person or admired from afar, one thing’s clear — Hyun Bin’s first visit to Manila was nothing short of unforgettable. And if his promise is anything to go by, we’ll be seeing more of him (and swooning just as hard) in the future. #HyunBinAtSolaire
