19 February 2026, MANILA, Philippines – LRT-1 private operator Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) is reaffirming its commitment to the continuous development and modernization of the rail system as it marks its 10th year of operations.
At the center of this commitment is the launch of LRMC’s new service identity, "KasamBiyahe: Kasama sa Biyahe, Kasabay sa Buhay." This vision signals a shift toward more personalized and reliable service, emphasizing that the LRT-1 is a constant companion in the daily lives and aspirations of its passengers.
Since taking over the system in 2015, LRMC has utilized its decade of operational experience to implement critical upgrades, including station rehabilitations, the introduction of 4th Generation train sets, and the opening of the LRT-1 Cavite Extension phase 1. The company maintains that the lessons learned from the past ten years are the primary drivers for the next phase of the line’s evolution.
"We are taking everything we have learned over the past decade to ensure the continuous development of LRT-1," LRMC President and CEO Enrico R. Benipayo said. "We are dedicated to making every journey safer, easier, and better. For us, being a 'KasamBiyahe' means moving beyond just being a transport provider; it means being a reliable partner that stays on track with our passengers and moves them toward their dreams."
In a move to highlight the people who drive the system’s success, LRMC unveiled the "Humans of LRT-1" initiative. The campaign features an exhibit of standees representing the three pillars of the railway: the government partners (Department of Transportation and Light Rail Transit Authority), the dedicated LRMC employees, and the commuting public.
The initiative underscores the importance of a strong partnership between the private sector and the government, while actively making the passengers part of the system’s progress.
LRMC’s approach to the next decade remains rooted in the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, which has allowed for the continuous modernization of Southeast Asia’s oldest rail line. By aligning private sector efficiency with the government’s transport vision, LRMC aims to sustain the momentum of improvement.
"The development of LRT-1 is a collaborative journey," Benipayo added. "By strengthening our ties with our grantors and staying deeply connected to our passengers, we ensure that LRT-1 remains a standard-bearer for urban mobility. We will continue to update the public on further developments as we work toward a more connected and efficient Metro Manila."
As LRMC moves forward, the company pledges to remain a steadfast companion to the millions of Filipinos who rely on LRT-1, ensuring that every trip is a step toward a better future.
