On July 11, 2021, during the Binibining Pilipinas coronation night, Pizza Hut conferred the title of Ms. Pizza Hut 2021 to Binibining Pilipinas candidate Karen Laurrie Mendoza. The title was given to her for embodying the positive, bold, and fun-loving brand identity that Pizza Hut is known all over the world for.
As part of her win, Pizza Hut awarded a total of P100,000 in cash and gift certificates to Mendoza in a simple ceremony at Pizza Hut's main office last August 5, led by Pizza Hut Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Chacha Juinio and Pizza Hut Head of Marketing Raymund Nobleza.
Mendoza took home a cash prize of P50,000 and P50,000 worth of gift certificates from Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, and Dairy Queen. She will also be representing Pizza Hut in many of its initiatives in the coming months.
A native of Iloilo, the 25-year-old cabin crew from the Municipality of Concepcion is known for her love for cooking, baking, and high-adrenaline activities, and more importantly, for promoting and raising mental health awareness, a topic she is very passionate about.
As an advocate of mental health awareness, Mendoza takes inspiration from her personal struggles as someone who suffered from depression at one point in her life, using her experiences to help uplift those who may be going through a difficult time mentally especially amid the current health crisis.
